And Afghanistan also defeated New Zealand and Australia in the T20 World Cup 2024. 

India

Cricket was introduced in India during the 18th century by Britishers, and the first match was played in 1721 between Indian locals and British soldiers. In 1848, the first cricket club to form in India was named Calcutta Cricket Club; later, many clubs formed. 

In India, the first Indian Cricket Team was formed in 1877 as the “Parsi Community,” and then a twist came into the picture when India won their first ever World Cup title in 1983 under Kapil Dev’s captaincy in Lord’s. 

1911 was the year when the official board of cricket in India was found, that is, BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India). As soon as things were going on, Sachin Tendulkar emerged in the 1990s, and he sparked his influence in the world of cricket and became the greatest cricketer in history. 

In 2007, India acquired the T20 WC total when the first T20 WC was introduced under MS Dhoni’s captaincy. As time passes, India won several trophies in different tournaments, like the ‘Champions Trophy’ and many more.

Since then, India has influenced many underdog cricket teams and young players to play and make their career in cricket.

The last bilateral series they played was in January 2024 when Afghanistan toured India; it was a 3 T20I match series in which India won by 2-0 because one match was tied and India won in the second super over.

The match ended up in a tie, and India won the second super over.

Head-to-Head Records between Afghanistan National Cricket Team vs India National Cricket Team:

Well, India is a much stronger team in comparison to Afghanistan, even though Afghanistan has never defeated India. Nevertheless, see the head-to-head records between India and Afghanistan.
